Went jalan jalan with Cin at Chinatown yesterday. As usual, it’s people mountain people sea. Cin and me didn’t bought much stuff. I only bought 3 ang pows with good luck coins and lucky numbers in it, a gold ingot for good luck and a wind mill for fun =X. But my wind mill very pretty leh ..kekeke. Cin bought more stuff than me.

Basically, most stalls are selling about the same stuff and those stalls selling New Year goodies allow tasting…very generously. One thing I realized is that the tatics of those shop sellers very-the-not-creative. No.1 most common heard line is “Today is boss’s birthday. Thus, there’s special discount today. Feel free to taste. Taste no buy is okay. ” stuff like that loh. It’s like….every night also boss’s birthday loh =X. Anyway we anyhow walk also can walk till 12 midnight O.o .

Before I meet up with Cin, I’m at home playing PKO with Nef and XX. Below is a rough conversation among us.

Me: “I gtg soon...”
Nef: “ going out?”
Me: “yah..going Chinatown”
XX: “ go Chinatown for what?”
Nef: “ya loh..there so many people”
Me: “for the atmosphere bah.”

For the atmosphere?!? Well, I’ve been telling everyone that I don’t really like Chinese New Year. The best things I like about CNY are the holiday breaks, and of course the ang pows. There are a couple of reasons why I dislike CNY,

1. Don’t feel at ease with so many relatives around. Besides that, they love to ask the same few questions repeatedly every year and some questions kinda =.= !!! No.1 question will be “Got boyfriend mah?” When I answer “No” (which is the truth), they will say “don’t need shy lah, next time bring him home for us to see….” or “when choosing boyfriend, need to open your eyes big big…”(like I have the choice like that =.=) I know they are trying to make some interactions lah but sometimes I’m scared =X . Okay lah…I’m anti-social T.T. Furthermore, both sides of my family don’t really have people around my age and when we rarely get together, there’s even less thing for us to chit chat. So most of the time when I go visiting, I just sit on the sofa and watch tv =/

2. Steamboat for meals for a few days. I only like ma la and vegetarian steamboats. Other than that, I don’t really fancy and during CNY, my family’s tradition is to eat steamboat for a few days leh. That left me with nothing to eat. Sometimes Day 1 I can go vegetarian throughout the day. Day 1 morning of CNY my family will have a vegetarian meal and I will have the leftovers as my dinner sometimes. Sometimes I just eat instant mee.

3. A lot of shops are closed down during CNY. Some shops have very long holiday. Thus, you wanna go walk walk also hard.

Hmmm…actually No.3 is a minor problem lah. No.1 and 2 more fatal =X Anyway, the above are just my personal problems. Read read can le…don’t let it affect your festive mood =). Hope everyone will have a good time during the coming holiday and wish those who gamble will win tons of money (but don’t win too much of mine lah ><)… those will receive ang pows will receive till hands tremble (keke…$v$) and those who eat a lot will stay healthy. May everyone has a prosperous Chinese New Year ahead ^-^!!
