Before I officially start my post on my Bangkok trip, I must thank Xin, Chester, Cin and Qi for accompanying me all the way to Ang Mo Kio to buy camera. Although I didn’t manage to buy my desired camera that day, I managed to get a good deal, thanks to Xin’s and Qi’s powerful bargaining skills XD. Luckily it was not a fruitless trip as Xinxin bought a DSLR that day. Xinxin shall be LW official photographer in further upcoming gatherings *wink*.
I’m grateful to Qi too as she helped me to collect the camera from AMK, which saved me from making a trip down there, which is really far =/. Arigatougozaimasu~
Tested my new camera with Qi’s new shades on. Haha… I nearly bring Qi’s shades home for my trip :X as both Qi and Ting said it have the ‘cat-eye’ effect which makes my eyes look bigger. LOL (><)!

Bangkok 2008

Destination: Bangkok
Date: 16th May – 19th May 2008
Hotel: Baiyoke Sky Hotel
Carrier: SQ
Tour Package Cost: ~$600++

DAY 1 - 16th May 2008
After we knock off, we straightaway chionged to the airport. Our flight was 2030 and we had to check in 2hours earlier, which was 1830. Then hor, PIE massive jam loh. I think there were 3 accidents along the way to airport. My colleague’s husband, who offered to drive us there, complained his legs cramped liao. Lol :X. Anyway, we finally reached airport at around 6.45pm and the queue for check-in was freaking long.

Taken on the plane while waiting for take-off.

It’s my first time on SQ…so mountain turtle =X. However, I think Cathy is better in terms of food. Entertainment wise still comparable. I watched 27 Dress but didn’t manage to complete the whole movie as it’s a short flight only. Boo~
We finally touched down at Bangkok.Snap, snap and more snaps~!~!

Our luggage and baggage status @ Day1. My room~~and we love it! As you can see, it’s very spacious and there’s even weighing scale in the bathroom! There’s bathtub and a standalone shower too. I didn’t take any shot of the bathroom because I don’t know where I should shot from. The whole bathroom is very big and the bathtub and shower stand are at different ends.
Night view from our room. We were staying at the 63th floor.
When we reached hotel, it’s almost midnight. After dumping our barang barang in our room, we went to 7-11 to stock up on the water. After that we retired for the day. My roomie and I didn’t catch much sleep and thus, woke up early (around 5am+ SG time = 6+ Thai time) to shop.

DAY 2 - 17th May 2008

Morning views

Shopping at 6am+ isn’t something we could do it in Singapore. However, I think that not many people are willing to wake up this early to shop, unless you are abroad.
Anyway, the Pratunam Market is just a street way from our hotel and after seeing its spread, we were so psyched. Designs are still okay and the most attractive part is cheap. Most clothes are priced at 100 baht, which is around SGD4. Due to our limited time (we were meeting others for breakfast @ 7am), we managed to cover ½ of the roadside stalls. Within a short period of time, my colleague managed to buy 3 tops whereas I bought 1.

After that we rushed back to meet others for breakfast and were stopped by the hotel staff. They said the initial place was full and we had to shift to another place. Their breakfast spree was good too.

Yummy~
After breakfast was the half day city tour. First stop was the floating market. Interesting newspaper stand =X
By the riverside~Someone who was trying to sell his stuff
On the boat~
Temple
Temple??
Fat fishes

Then we stopped at some temple with some challenging trails. The stairs are freaking steep and the steps are quite big and hence, we had some difficulties climbing up and down. The worst part was coming down. Very very scary one. After the climb my thighs ached badly T.T.

Following up was the jewellery shop which we had little interest and hence, we left after 30min later.

Then we went to an expensive tailor shop to tailor some shirts for our boss and then, it’s shopping time!!

We went to Central World, Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery and MBK. We bought Naraya bags at Central World, lingerie at Siam Paragon, bought medicine at Boot at Siam Discovery (because Central World de no stock ): ) and local snacks from MBK.

We spent a lot of time at both Central World and Siam Paragon and thus, those colleagues who didn’t shop waited for us for a long time. Eventually, they were so famished as it was way past lunch time and thus, they proceed with lunch first. I heard they had 2 servings of main courses :X.

We went to Victoria Memorial Bridge Night Market. As it’s located quite far from our hotel, not many cabbies were willing to bring us there. Those willing ones wanna charge us a lump sum cab fare, rather than charging by meter. So doink!!!
After much bargaining, we finally hopped into the cab and guess what???

It started to rain.

Faint.

Unbelievable.

The night market is made of a lot of tent stalls and there isn’t much space for shelter. Then we passed by a stall selling fried squid egg. We decided to try it and at the same time, take shelter there. It’s very nice. While we were eating, the rain was getting smaller. However, just when we finished the last bit of the fried squid egg, there was a heavy downpour again -_-!!!. So we had a second serving. Lol~ the stall vendor was smiling at us loh. I think she knew our ultimate aim is to take shelter, not eat. Haha…

Anyway, we didn’t stay long there as our moods were already damped by the bad weather. Most of us were kinda drenched.

DAY 3 - 18th May 2008

We woke up early to shop this morning too. However, the stalls were so different from yesterday. Not only that, many stalls were not open yet. So kinda sian. Despite that, there was a small encounter that morning- a yan yu. Lol =.=!

After breakfast, we went down to Pratunam Market for a short while before we proceed to Chatuchak Weekend Market.

I settled 75% of my souvenirs there. Happy. It’s because usually buying souvenirs for family and friends is a tough task.

I bought 3 skirts and a pair of sandals there too.

However, we didn’t spend much time there because some of my colleagues were tired and the weather was hot. What a pity =(.

Next was Platinum Fashion Mall. I didn’t buy much from there also. This is what I told Xin:

Xin : Jia, Bangkok fun anot?
Me : Not fun. Walk till glide.
Xin : What is walk till glide?
Me: Walk until cannot walk then glide.

Our legs really super overworked loh. At Platinum Mall, we could hardly lift up our legs that we glide in the end. I’m not exaggerating wor.

Dinner was seafood. Food wise okay-okay but I think it’s pretty expensive.

After dinner was massage!!

Massage was okay lah and I nearly fall asleep. I could hear people snoring wor...just next door nia. Lol =X

After our massage session, the person asked for tip. My colleagues gave 100 baht each whereas I gave 60 baht (I’m left with three 60 notes and the rest are 500 and 1000) and the person kinda like “So little!” =/

DAY 4 - 19th May 2008

After breakfast, we shopped at Pratunam Market again before we went to the famous Erawan Shrine. Then we went to MBK to buy more local food home for family, relatives and friends.
My lunch @ MBK-Ham and egg Crepe
Our baggies~ big difference? ;X

My Bangkok trip ended here.

Blogged unitl I wanna faint le. Got time I'll touch up. Enjoy~
